Boat fuel lines are a crucial component of the fuel system, responsible for the safe and reliable transport of gasoline or diesel fuel from the tank to the engine. Choosing the right one is essential to avoid leaks, harmful vapors, or dangerous backfires.

🧯 Features of Marine Fuel Lines
▶️ Materials
  • NBR (Nitrile) rubber : resistant to hydrocarbons, often with internal braid.
  • Reinforced neoprene or PVC : for greater flexibility and durability.
  • SAE J1527 or ISO 7840 approved hoses : guarantee resistance to fuels, vapors and fire.
▶️ Internal diameter
  • Usually 5mm to 12mm , depending on the type of engine (outboard or inboard).
  • Most common outboard motors require 8mm (5/16") or 10mm (3/8") tubing.
▶️ Resistance
  • Petrol, diesel, ethanol blends (E10/E15) fuels.
  • Pressure resistant , suitable for vacuum (suction) and pressure (injection) systems.
  • Some tubes include UV-resistant coating for sun exposure.
🔧 Complete Tubes with Pump

Many outboard motors use primer bulbs (hand pumps) to make starting easier:

  • Complete fuel hose : with pear pump , bayonet fittings or quick coupling.
  • Compatible with Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Tohatsu engines, etc.
🛠️ Useful Accessories
  • Fuel fittings (male/female): to connect the hose to the engine or tank.
  • In-line fuel filters : to be inserted into the pipe to retain impurities.
  • Stainless steel clamps : for secure tightening of fittings.
  • Non-return valves : prevent fuel from flowing back.
⚠️ Rules and Safety
  • Check that the pipe is marked ISO 7840 for fixed installations (mandatory for CE pleasure boats).
  • For outboards with portable hoses (portable tank), SAE J1527 type B1 or B2 approval is still recommended.
  • Replace every 3-5 years : Over time, hoses harden, crack, or lose elasticity.
