The sensor indicates to the instrument the type of use of the tank (e.g. black / grey / white water - fuel) and, if indicated at the time of ordering, also the volume which will thus be indicated by the instrument in litres instead of as a percentage. If there are more than one tank for the same liquid on board, the numbering of the tanks must also be indicated in the order (e.g. 1 - 2 - 3).
