How to choose spare parts for camper air conditioning and heating

Camper air conditioning and heating systems are made up of numerous components subject to wear: from hot air ducting to the internal parts of standalone heaters, and even air conditioner power cables. Identifying the correct spare part requires knowing the brand, model and, often, the operating voltage of the appliance.

Hot air ducting pipes

Hot air distribution pipes are among the most requested spare parts. They are available in several versions: flexible aluminum or paper/aluminum, rigid, and insulated. The most common diameters are 60, 70, 80 and 90 mm; the right diameter depends on the appliance connection and the system design. Flexible pipes adapt to curved routes, while rigid ones are suitable for visible sections where a neat appearance is required.

Spare parts for standalone heaters (Eberspacher, Webasto, Truma)

Air heaters such as Airtronic from Eberspacher or Webasto models require specific spare parts for brand and model: glow plugs, fuel pumps, fan motors (available in 12 V and 24 V versions), gasket kits, and diesel return pipes. Before ordering, check the code of the installed model: many components are not interchangeable between different versions of the same heater.

Truma and Alde cover most of the water boilers and combined heaters installed on European campers. The most common spare parts include thermostats, flue terminals, gaskets, and hydraulic components. The thermostat is a safety device that cuts off the power in case of overheating and must be replaced if the appliance shuts down for thermal reasons.

For camper air conditioners, the power cable must be sized according to the power consumed by the unit. The most frequent searches concern the cable cross-section to use: an undersized cable causes voltage drops and overheating. Before choosing the cable, consult the nameplate data of the installed air conditioner.

Filters, gaskets, and accessories for air conditioners

Air filters, installation gaskets, and spacers for roof mounting are part of the routine maintenance of the air conditioner. Periodic cleaning or replacement of the filters maintains the efficiency of the system and the quality of the indoor air.
