Stand-By-Charger

The VOTRONIC standby charger is used for automatic charging and maintenance of the starter or auxiliary battery if the battery charger, solar charge controller, or generator only has one charging output. The device can be easily retrofitted by simply connecting it between the on-board battery and the starter battery or between the on-board battery and the auxiliary battery without having to change the existing wiring.

For example, if the charger is operating and charging the on-board battery, a small portion of the charging current is used to charge the second battery (starter battery or auxiliary battery), depending on the state of charge. This charge maintenance function works automatically and is indicated by an increase in the voltage level of the second battery. Overcharging the second battery is impossible because the charging voltage is reduced by at least 0.6V and the charging current is limited to 3A (24V variant: 2A).
