Bacterial contamination of diesel fuel is a very serious and complex problem, and has recently become increasingly widespread. Unlike "classic diesel sludge" (paraffins, carbon residues, and tar), which are liquefied by Fastol and reintegrated into the fuel, bacterial sludge is soluble only in acids. A few ppm of water are enough to encourage the growth of these bacteria. The residues produced by the bacterial colony appear in the form of mucilage, algae, mold, or filaments. They increase rapidly and clog filters and pipes, causing breakdowns and even engine shutdowns. Their proliferation also triggers corrosion processes in the tank.
