Fuel cans and funnels for boats are essential accessories for the safe and convenient refueling of petrol or diesel, especially if you use spare cans or refuel away from equipped docks.

⛽ FUEL CANS FOR BOATS

▶️ Important features to look for:

1. Material:

   • High density plastic (HDPE) resistant to fuels, UV rays and salt corrosion.

   • Some are UN/ADR approved for the transport of flammable liquids.

2. Capacity:

   • 5 to 25 liters are the most common. Some boats even use 30+ liter tanks, but they become cumbersome to handle.

   • If used for refueling outboards, 12–20 litre tanks are ideal.

3. Built-in nozzle or hose:

   • Recommended to avoid splashes.

   • Some have self-venting spouts to prevent gurgling.

4. Safety cap with vent valve:

   • Improves flow during decanting and avoids "emptiness" in the tank.

5. Maritime approved tanks:

   • For boats, it is best to use products certified for nautical use

▶️ Common types:

1. Classic anti-spill funnel

   • Wide opening, often with an internal grille or filter.

   • Cheap and simple.

2. Funnel with flexible or telescopic tube

   • Ideal for hard-to-reach tanks.

   • Allows for greater precision and less splashing.

3. Funnel with filter

   • Built-in metal or fine mesh filter: blocks water, debris or impurities.

   • Very useful for fuel from “dated” or dirty canisters.

4. Anti-siphon / self-sealing funnels

   • They close automatically if they tip over (anti-leak).

   • Excellent for increasing safety on board.

🛠️ PRACTICAL ADVICE

• Clearly label your cans: Diesel / Petrol , to avoid serious mistakes.

• Never fill to the brim: always leave 10% air for expansion.

• Do not use old canisters that have contained other liquids (even fresh water or oil).

• Store the canisters in well-ventilated places, away from heat sources.
