The Highway Code (Art. 344 (Art. 142 Highway Code paragraph 4) imposes permanent speed limitations for “CARS TOWING A TRAILER”.
Article 54, paragraph 1, defines the maximum permitted speed: 70 km/h on extra-urban roads; 80 km/h on motorways.
The rear of trailers referred to in Article 142, paragraph 4, of the Code must display clearly visible retroreflective signs displaying the prescribed speed limits in numbers.

Each sign must comply with the regulations and meet the following characteristics: dimensions and colors; support materials: aluminum or adhesive film; retroreflective material: high-efficiency film (class 2).

The 70 km/h speed limit sign must be placed on the rear left side of the trailer, while the 80 km/h speed limit sign must be placed on the rear right side of the trailer.

The signs referred to in this article must conform to the type approved, on the basis of the aforementioned characteristics, by the Ministry of Transport and Navigation.

Each permit must visibly bear the approval mark according to the type determined by the Ministry of Transport and Navigation.
