Control unit for recording the charging operation in a 12 V vehicle electrical system (engine running).
If auxiliary consumers are to be switched on only when the engine is running (the alternator supplies current) or if the on-board battery is to be charged via an isolation relay by connecting the on-board battery and the starter battery together, the D+ contact of the alternator is usually used to control a relay.
However, this contact in the vehicle is often inaccessible, no longer present in newer alternators, not available in a housing, or voltage-dependent control is generally required. This is where the VOTRONIC D+ simulator can help. It generates a voltage-controlled signal (e.g., from the starter battery) for a subsequent powerful (isolation) relay.
Other possible applications include controlling auxiliary consumers that should only be activated when the battery is sufficiently charged, e.g. switching on an air conditioning system while driving or switching on a refrigerator, cold storage unit, cooler or 12 V heater on board.
Intelligent voltage evaluation of the switching thresholds prevents incorrect activation during voltage dips or peaks. Dynamic threshold detection also prevents oscillation around the switching points when switching very large loads. The switching status is indicated by an LED.
The electronics are protected against humidity, and the connection is made in the rear terminal compartment via a plug-in screw terminal. The switching output can handle 12V/0.5A, is short-circuit and overload resistant, and is PNP-type, plus the output, ground-side load.
